The power plant has been operational more than 60 years, starting with coal burning units in 1959, during the E.ON period, passing through an upgrade with a steam turbine, switching to gas units during Electrabel and Uniper period in the early 10’s.
The 385 MW CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) power plant occupies a central place in the Belgian energy market. The site is located in Vilvoorde, 10 km north of Brussels, the heart of Belgium and Europe.

Nowadays
Energa Brussels has reached an agreement for the sale of the Vilvoorde power plant and assets.
The plant has been an active energy player, producing electricity for the Belgian power market.
The site is expected to keep the same long-standing role as a major electricity producer for the country’s energy security.
